The North Essex Veterans Mental Health Network (NEVMHN) has been established to ensure that there is active and meaningful dialogue between the full range of agencies in the North Essex area concerned with the mental health of veterans.
The initial dialogue between the Military Mental Health team at Colchester and the North Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust regarding the care handover of a particular service leaver raised more questions than answers. Combat Stress were consulted as experts in this field and the beginning of a network was formed. Project expertise was provided by Enable East and the team included a veteran. The focus for all is the veteran and putting the veteran first.
As a direct result of the partnerships formed through the NEVMHN and the hard work of dedicated individuals, the North Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust launched the Veterans First Service in May 2012. HSJ Value in Healthcare Awards 2016
The Veterans First service of North Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (NEP) has been shortlisted in the Specialist Services category for their “Innovative and collaborative approach to supporting Armed Forces Personnel in transition and Veterans.” in the 2016 HSJ Value in Healthcare Awards.
The award ceremony will be held on Tuesday 24 May when the results will be announced at Manchester Central, Windmill Street, Manchester, M2 3GX.
